Here are the weekend estimates from the North American
Box Office from this past weekend (1-3 August):
1. The
Dark Knight $43,800,000
2. The
Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor $42,450,000
3. Step Brothers $16,300,000
4. Mamma Mia!
$13,121,000
5. Journey to the Center of the Earth $6,875,000
6. Swing Vote $6,300,000
7. Hancock $5,200,000
8. Wall-E $4,747,000
9. The
X-Files: I Want To Believe $3,425,000
10. Space Chimps $2,840,000
11. Hellboy
II: The Golden Army $2,527,000
12. Wanted $1,257,000
It seems that "The Dark Knight"
has come out on top for a third straight weekend! This juggernaut
shows no signs of stopping. It may not reach "Titanic",
but it'll definitely be the second highest grosser of all time!
"The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon
Emperor" opened quite respectively, but a far cry from previous
entries in the franchise.
The X-Files sequel took a major nose dive and will
probably be out of the top 12 next weekend.
Good hold-offs include Wall-E, Hancock
and Wanted, all of who have provided consistent box office (for
blockbusters anyway) for the past few weeks.
