Friday's box office was a little down
on last week despite a few new openers and a couple of strong returning
films.
The number one film for Friday is
LAKEVIEW TERRACE, the new thriller starring Samuel L Jackson. The
film took in a decent 5.1 million.
Last Friday's number one film BURN
AFTER READING lands in second place with 3.45 million. The Coen
brothers comedy has amassed 28.5 million so far from a 37 million
budget.
The romantic comedy MY BEST FRIEND'S
GIRL opened in third place with 3 million. The new movie from Kate
Hudson and Dane Cook hasn't polled very well with viewers so may
not do so well for the rest of the weekend.
The new CG-animated flick IGOR from
the Weinstein Company opened to 2 million on Friday. The new fantasy
comedy GHOST TOWN opened in 8th spot with 1.5 million.
Of the returning films, THE
DARK KNIGHT is worthy of note, finally running out of puff and
falling to tenth spot with 790,000. The film has taken in a record
breaking 520 million.
The North American box office in total
took in 23.1 million for the whole of Friday 19th September 2008.
