A couple of interesting new films opened at the
US Box Office this Friday, resulting in a slight increase in revenue
over the past Friday.
Mark Wahlberg's new film MAX
PAYNE debuted at number one with an estimated 7.1 million. This
Sin City wannabe only cost 35 million for distributor Fox and this
Friday figure will lead to a very strong opening weekend.
The number two film sees the return of controversial
director Oliver Stone with W. The film cost 25 million and debuted
with an estimated 3.8 million. This is a decent figure for its budget
which should translate to a solid opening weekend.
The number three film is another new
opener, THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES, grossing an estimated 3.6 million.
This indie release only cost 11 million and it may just recoup its
budget back this weekend.
