Overall, the Box Office was down 26.7%
on last weekend's total gross.
The Box Office was relatively quiet
and unremarkable this weekend, with no real surprises.
Tyler Perry is again at the top of
the box office with MADEA GOES TO JAIL. The number two film JONAS
BROTHERS: THE 3D CONCERT EXPERIENCE was number one on Friday but
could not muster up the audience power to take out Tyler Perry.
This year's Best Picture winner SLUMDOG
MILLIONAIRE enjoyed a boost in revenue thanks largely to the
Oscars last Sunday night, posting a 44% increase in ticket sales
from last weekend. Another film still enjoying great numbers is
TAKEN, which only
lost 11% of its audience on last weekend.
The only other new opener this weekend
is STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI which did not do very much
business with its paltry $4.6M over the weekend.
The US Box Office took in an estimated
total of $87.6 million for the whole of the weekend 27 February
- 1 March 2009.
