Friday saw a 25.7% decrease in box office
revenue over the previous Friday.
1. Michael
Jackson's This Is It - $7.8M
2. Paranormal Activity - $6M
3. Law Abiding Citizen- $2.4M
4. Couples Retreat - $2.3M
5. Where The Wild Things Are - $1.94M
6. Saw VI - $1.9M
7. The Stepfather - $1.1M
8. Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - $0.97M
9. Astro Boy - $0.95M
10. Amelia - $0.93M
The box office was down on last Friday
by a significant margin with only one new wide release and returning
films not doing much business.
Michael Jackson's tribute THIS
IS IT earned an estimated $7.8M on Friday, having earned $19M
since opening on Wednesday. Considering its not a typical concert
film and is clearly running on the fact that it is tribute to the
late Michael Jackson, the documentary did quite well and will have
a good win for the weekend.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY slipped to second
this Friday, earning an estimated $6M and is likely to have another
strong weekend. It is hard to say but there is an outside chance it
could hit number one by the end of the weekend given that Halloween
is on Saturday and this fright fest might just be the ticket.
The other interesting story for the
Friday pertains to the big drops for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and
SAW VI which dropped dramatically on last Friday. SAW VI has earned
its budget back, but the news is more precarious for WHERE THE WILD
THINGS ARE as it cost $100M.

The Top 10 at the North American box
office took in an estimated total of $26.5 million for the whole of
Friday 30th October 2009.
