AVATAR
is continuing its sensational run, landing in first place again, earning
an estimated $13.2 million on its fourth Friday, dipping only 47%
on last Friday and has now crossed $394 million at the domestic box
office. The James Cameron sci-fi extravaganza is now closing in on
$1.2 billion at the world wide box office and is sitting at number
two on that last behind TITANIC.
Three
other films opened on Friday but none of them really shook the box
office world that much. DAYBREAKERS, the latest vampire flick, opened
to an estimated $5.9 million which is not too bad, but other films
LEAP YEAR and YOUTH IN REVOLT opened with an estimated $3.3 million
and $2.7 million respectively, which does not bode well for their
futures.
Stay
tuned for a more comprehensive wrap-up of the weekend box office in
North America for 8-10 January 2010.
The
Top 10 at the North American box office took in an estimated total
of $42.4 million for the whole of Friday 8th January 2010.
