The
big entry in to the top 10 this Friday is Martin Scorsese's SHUTTER
ISLAND which brought in a solid estimate of $14.1 million. This
bodes well for its weekend business, and is a good start. Reviews
and reception ranged from mixed to positive, so there will be a question
mark over its longevity, but for right now, the combination of Scorsese
and star Leonardo DiCaprio seems to have worked again.
Last
Friday's big winner VALENTINE'S DAY dropped a big 60% on last Friday,
pulling in an estimated $5.68 million on Friday. The marketing novelty
has worn off, but the film is already a success so it hardly matters
what happens from here. PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING
THIEF sufferred a similar drop of 58% which puts a question mark over
its ability to recoup its production budget domestically. It's half
way there but may have to work hard from here on out.
THE
WOLFMAN sufferred the biggest drop, shedding 70% of its audience
on last Friday to pull in a woeful Friday estimate of $2.8 million.
This troubled film will likely disappear shortly.
